Exciting news, friends! This August, the first ever Lucky Mamas Retreat in Southern California will be held in San Diego county! The original Lucky Mamas Retreat in Austin, TX welcomes a brand new group of 24 women every year to make one-of-a-kind connections between mamas of children with Down syndrome. The Lucky Few’s Heather Avis and Liz Plachta of Ruby’s Rainbowhttps://rubysrainbow.org will be bringing their flagship retreat to the beautiful Oaks retreat center in Ramona, CA, just outside of San Diego. With the intimate size of the event, you’ll have the chance to meaningfully connect with everyone in the group during your stay.

The retreat fee covers two nights in the comfortable and stylishly appointed rooms of The Oaks, deliciously prepared farm-to-table meals and beverages, wine, cocktails, and snacks throughout the weekend, and access to amenities like the sparkling pool, 2 miles of private hiking trails, and various hammocks and rocking chairs overlooking the acres of picturesque greenery.

The weekend begins with a late afternoon meet-and-greet as attendees arrive, leading up to the first sit-down dinner and after-dinner cocktail party (casual dress code!). Saturday morning begins with a buffet breakfast in the dining hall, optional yoga, followed by a reflection and writing exercise led by Heather. Saturday wraps up with a hayride to the equestrian center to enjoy appetizers and games with the property’s resident race horses while the sun sets behind the hills. Free time is scattered throughout the day, leaving ample time to explore the stunning grounds of the foothills, sit by the pool, or enjoy a book on one of the many rocking chairs. This weekend is specially geared toward providing moms a weekend to relax and bond with others who truly understand the beautiful and difficult journey of motherhood in the Down syndrome sphere.
